School Culture, Aims & Values
Culture in any organisation can be defined as “the way we do things around here.” Here at the Dixie, we define our main aim as:
Fulfilling potential through aspiration and integrity.
Underpinning this is our mission to pursue success through challenge, consistency & high expectations. This vocabulary came out of conversations with the whole school community during our work on defining Dixie culture.
Everything we do is reinforced by our core values of respect, resilience, courage, commitment, and care. These values form the bedrock of our school discourse and are a key part of our rewards system, form time activities, and how we work with the wider school community. The document linked below is our statement that defines what each value looks like in practice and is displayed in all classrooms.
Our system of rewards and sanctions is designed to promote this culture and pupils receive house points when they display our values in the classroom, as well as in wider school life. The ePraise system is the means by which this is achieved and gives real-time information to teachers, pupils and parents alike, so we can all celebrate pupils’ achievements.
We work to embed our values in all aspects of school life and we rely on all members of the Dixie community - pupils, teaching staff, support staff, facilities, catering and finance teams, Governors and parents - to partner with us to ensure our core values are at the heart of all we do as a school.
