Outdoor Education
We don’t believe learning should be confined to four walls. We are incredibly fortunate to be nestled in a beautiful rural setting, and we treat our grounds as a natural extension of our classrooms. Whether the sun is shining or the puddles are beckoning, we take every opportunity to get outside.
Our dedicated Forest School sessions are a highlight of the Pippins experience, where children engage in child-led exploration that fosters a deep connection with nature. This isn't just about fresh air; it’s about building essential life skills that serve them well beyond the nursery classroom:
- Resilience & Risk-Taking: Whether it's navigating uneven terrain or learning to use tools safely, children build grit and self-assurance.
- Problem Solving: Building dens and creating "mud kitchen" masterpieces requires teamwork, logic, and creative thinking.
- Environmental Stewardship: By observing the changing seasons firsthand, our pupils develop a lifelong respect for the natural world.
Our nursery garden features trim trail equipment, mud kitchens and bikes and trikes, specifically designed to challenge our youngest learners physically. This outdoor equipment is a vital tool for developing gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. Watching a child conquer the balancing beams or scaling the climbing frame for the first time is a testament to the "can-do" attitude we cultivate here at Pippins.
From puddle-jumping in wellies to quiet moments of birdwatching, our outdoor curriculum ensures that every child stays active, curious, and inspired by the world around them.
